NOTES: Located 12 miles west of Crested Butte at 10,700 feet in the Ruby Range, the Irwin Lodge is a backcountry haven with 1,600 skiable acres and 2,100 of vertical. The area averages 600 to 700 inches of snowfall annually.
The lodge and snowcat operation is currently run by Irwin Backcountry Guides LLC. They hope to start operation for the winter 2009/2010 with 10 guests per day.
If you are still up for some nightlife after along day of cat skiing, try Kochevars after 5pm, LoBar after 10pm and the Talk Of The Town after midnight.
